About the Department

Our Podiatry Department focuses on the assessment, prevention and management of foot-related complications, with particular emphasis on diabetic foot health.

We combine clinical foot assessment, neurological and vascular screening, pressure analysis, wound care and preventive foot care to identify potential risks early and support better long-term foot health.

What We Do

Assessments & Services

Neurological & Sensory Assessment

  • BiothesiometerAssesses vibration perception to help evaluate peripheral sensory nerve function and identify reduced protective sensation.
  • Monofilament TestA clinical assessment of protective sensation in the feet, commonly used as part of diabetic foot risk assessment.
  • Thermal Perception ThresholdAssesses the ability to perceive changes in temperature as part of sensory and neuropathy evaluation.

Vascular & Circulatory Assessment

  • Vascular DopplerNon-invasive assessment of blood flow in the lower limbs to support evaluation of peripheral vascular status.

Foot Pressure & Biomechanical Assessment

  • Plantar Pressure ScanEvaluates the distribution of pressure across the sole of the foot to identify areas of increased loading and potential risk.

Foot Care & Wound Management

  • Medical PedicureProfessional medical foot and nail care for individuals requiring specialised foot-care practices.
  • Wound DressingClinical wound-care and dressing services for appropriate foot wounds, with care based on wound characteristics and clinical assessment.

Diabetic Complication Assessment

  • Cardiovascular Autonomic Neuropathy AssessmentAssessment of cardiovascular autonomic function as part of diabetes-related complication screening.
  • FundoscopyEye examination to screen for diabetes-related retinal changes as part of comprehensive diabetes complication assessment.
  • Bone Density AssessmentAssessment of bone mineral density where clinically indicated to evaluate bone health.
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)Recording of the heart's electrical activity as part of cardiovascular assessment where clinically indicated.
  • Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring24-hour monitoring of blood pressure to evaluate blood-pressure patterns throughout daily activities and sleep.

Supportive Therapies

  • Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)A non-invasive electrical stimulation therapy that may be used for selected pain-management applications where clinically appropriate.
Our Approach

Our approach combines early risk identification, preventive foot care, clinical assessment and appropriate intervention.

Patients are assessed based on their individual foot health, diabetes status, neurological and vascular risk factors and other relevant clinical findings. Where required, findings can be considered alongside the broader medical, laboratory and lifestyle services available at Metnoia NewHealth.

Services offered, investigations performed and treatment suitability may vary depending on individual clinical requirements.
